‘Blood’ was a labor of love, growth, and rebirth. Making this EP was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. The stories I had to relive to get an experiential, honest piece of work nearly tore me apart.
There was blood on the studio floor when I was done recording — but there was also a lightness of being I’d never thought possible. I bled for this work, and that catharsis led me to give birth to a version of myself that could shed the hauntings of my past. Those ghosts went into the mic, and they stayed there.
This work is me. My stories, my life — all that makes me, ‘me.’

Savarre has a wildly versatile vocal instrument; it’s capable of convincing lower register contributions as well as soaring highs. Evans gives “Art of the Bleed” a sense of stakes. She’s singing for her life here, leaving it all on the studio floor, but her control never allows the vocal to become overwrought. She doesn’t attempt to dominate the song. Instead, Evans works hard incorporating herself into the overall arrangement. Savarre is clearly intended as a band project rather than a glorified solo vehicle.IMAAI
